So you are wondering how to reheat chicken wings and keep the incredible flavor?

To enjoy your chicken wings at a later date, you must know how to reheat chicken wins the right way.

You should store cooked chicken wings in the refrigerator. These can be consumed up to 4 days after cooking. Make sure that they are always kept in an airtight container and only refrigerate after they have cooled completely.

You can also freeze chicken wings to improve their shelf life. Frozen cooked chicken wings can be kept in a home freezer for up to 6 months to enjoy at a later date.

The best way to enjoy chicken wings the second time around is by reheating them in the oven. This way, you will not lose any mouth-watering flavors and have that tongue-tingling result that sets your taste buds on fire!

Chicken Wing History

Chicken wings are a staple of American cuisine that we all love to enjoy. With so many sauces from hot, to BBQ, to piri piri, garlic, honey and so many more- there’s a chicken wing to suit everyone.

These delicious finger foods have been consumed for years and originated in the Southern states, in their famous Southern fried recipes. However, the concept of eating wings with hot sauce was invented in 1964 in Buffalo, New York. Hence the name; Buffalo Chicken Wings has become a cultural phenomenon.

Chicken wings are our favorite finger-licking snack that goes well with any occasion. Whether they are a dinner appetizer or something to keep your appetite fed while watching the game, chicken wings are always the right choice.

Chicken wings are best served to drip in spicy cayenne pepper hot sauce, with a side of celery sticks and blue cheese dip for the perfect balance of spicy and cool.

They are famously enjoyed through sports games and are a Super Bowl specialty. In 2019, America enjoyed over 1.38 billion chicken wings during the Super Bowl alone! Most people stock up on chicken wings whenever they can because there will always come a time where we crave them.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings in the Oven

To reheat chicken wings in the oven, you must first take your chicken wings out of your refrigerator and leave them to come to room temperature. If you are reheating frozen chicken wings, then you should thaw them completely before reheating.

Next, you must set your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

Following this, you should grab a baking sheet and cover in a little cooking oil so that they do not stick. Some people recommend sprinkling some water on top of your wings to keep them from drying out.

Then, arrange your wings on the pan around an inch apart. Once your oven has reached 350 degrees, you can place your wings inside and cook for 5-6 minutes depending on size. After this, you can turn your chicken wings and cook the other sides for a further 5-6 minutes to cover all angles.

You should always check that your largest chicken wing reaches a temperature of at least 165 degrees fahrenheit. This way, you know that they are all cooked properly.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings in a Frying Pan

If you simply cannot wait to enjoy those delicious spicy chicken wings, then there is a quicker way. You can reheat chicken wings in a frying pan!

Again, you must let your chicken wings rest out of the refrigerator and wait for them to reach room temperature. As usual, oil your frying pan a little and heat on high. Once the oil has heated up, you may add your chicken wings.

You can reheat the chicken wings for 2-4 minutes, making sure that you turn them intermittently. Once the wings have crisped a little and turned golden, then they are ready to serve.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings on the Grill

You can easily reheat your chicken wings on a grill and add a little extra flavor the second time around. Grilling can give your chicken wings some charring for a delicious taste.

First, make sure the chicken wings are at room temperature, then place your wings on a tray and put them over the grill on a medium to low heat. You may choose to add some more spices to bump up the flavor before cooking.

Reheat chicken wings for around 15 minutes, whilst turning to reach all sides. Once the skin has crisped up and browned a little, then your chicken wings will be ready to eat.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings in a Toaster Oven

You can even reheat your leftover chicken wings in a toaster oven. This works in a similar way to a regular oven. Simply turn the heat up to 350 degrees fahrenheit, and cook for around 10 minutes, turning so that they heat evenly.

How to Reheat Chicken Wings in the Microwave

You can reheat your chicken wings with a microwave, but we do recommend that the oven works best! If you want to use the microwave, then make sure you are using a microwave-safe plate or dish.

Then, you can add your chicken wings to be reheated. We recommend using a damp paper towel to keep them from drying out. Microwaves have powerful waves and high temperatures, so your chicken wings will most likely lose some moisture.

Place the damp paper towel on top of your wings and reheat for around 2-3 minutes until warmed.

Our Best Tip

No matter which way you prefer to eat or reheat your chicken wings, you should always make sure that the interior temperature has reached 165 degrees fahrenheit before consuming. This way you know that your wings are safe to eat and serve.
